abc easy as 123

June 2, 2010

In the past long weekend I finally found the time to do what I wanted to do for a long time already… carve a rubber stamp alphabet!
I was so thrilled, I made two! I hope maybe this weekend, I can make another set.
The first set is inspired by an existing type, the other one is just my own handwriting.
You can find a print of the entire alphabet (the two sets) on my site.

Stamp it!

If you think of it, carving a rubber stamp seems like a very tedious job;
– it takes hours
– you have to sit very still
– you need to concentrate (or before you know, you may have lost a finger, or at least very precious piece of it)
– the whole thing is ruined if you slip once
– or even worse, if you forgot to mirror your image (happened to me twice already!)
Still, I love doing it.

Here are two stamps I created a while ago. I wanted a stamp to mark postcards I send occasionally for someone’s birthday.
I’ve been wanting to carve another one for quite some time now, but I haven’t found the time yet.
As I said, it’s a very time-consuming job.
