birds of a feather

October 29, 2019

This summer I made a large painting of the robin that was on Lene’s birth announcement. Rose got kind of jealous and has been asking me over and over when I am finally going to make ‘her’ bird. So today, I finally made time. I’m not one 100% satisfied with the result (the eye being too big and the legs too small), but I hope she’ll like it when she gets home…

It was my first time working on such a grand scale (2m-1m) and I liked it, really relaxing (yet stressful at the same time 🙂
I did the girls’ birds in Ecoline drawing ink (my favourite for colouring) and added details in pencil and crayon (both oil & pastel)

I don’t know why, but I really like drawing birds…

And I love sketching with my red & blue pencil.

An improsketch I did with Fabienne Snellinx, although we broke the only rule there is to it. Can you tell who did what?

I’m really satisfied with the result, this bird got it all started.
